A sweeping law enacted in Romania now mandates the creation of a National Automated Register of Persons convicted or sanctioned for drug trafficking offenses. While touted as a tool to prevent recidivism and improve public safety, it represents a significant expansion of police powers—raising serious concerns about privacy, human rights, and the rule of law. This law is attacking even rehabilitated citizen and even model citizen without any active conviction! Than means , if someone did something 30+ years ago but paid everything off and became a model citizen  , they will still  register you and take you DNA like this someone, is a criminal, NOW.  Without any prosecutor or active conviction, the police is becoming the perfect TOOL AGAINST HUMANS VIOLATING HUMAN RIGHTS AND EUROPEAN LAW !

#1

A Broad New Surveillance Instrument

The new register automatically collects biometric data including photographs, fingerprints, and DNA samples from individuals convicted, sentenced, or even under judicial measures for drug-related crimes AND EVEN IF THE PERSON HAS A CLEAN RECORD or HAS BECOME A REHABILITATE CITIZEN without any other legal disputes.

Police are empowered to forcibly retrieve biological samples and extensively monitor registrants through mandatory quarterly reports of residence, occupation, contacts, and travel.

This system goes far beyond traditional criminal records, creating a pervasive surveillance network rooted in state control.
#2

Power to Police Without Checks - the perfect police state

The law grants Romanian police authority to demand individuals appear at police stations under threat of criminal sanction for failure to comply, EVEN IF THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ACTIVELY CONVICTED !

Registered persons must also notify police ahead of trips exceeding seven days.

The police can even enter residences to conduct confidential verifications, blurring lines between policing and intrusion into personal lives.

These measures permit repeated enforcement actions without judicial oversight or proportionality safeguards.
#3

Breach of European Human Rights Standards

The registry, conflicts with the European Union’s legal frameworks and the European Convention on Human Rights, particularly Article 6 guaranteeing fair trial and presumption of innocence.

Individuals remain under punitive surveillance even when legally rehabilitated or no longer holding criminal convictions. THAT MEANS: you can be the best citizen , they dont care, they stamp one as : .. CRIMINAL FOR LIFE...

The system disregards basic privacy rights and due process, transforming administrative tracking into an instrument of second punishment without court judgment.

Real-World Impact on Citizens

Reports reveal cases where people with clean criminal records or minor drug possession fines abroad are improperly added to the Register.

This overreach has led to wrongful police harassment and criminal charges for not reporting, causing social stigma and mental distress.

The Register’s punitive reach disproportionately affects marginalized communities, turning them into perpetual suspects in a de facto police state environment.
#5

Romania’s Authoritarian Drift

This legislation is symptomatic of a deeper shift toward authoritarian governance in Romania, where policing and surveillance intrude on civil liberties under the guise of combating crime.

It signals a dangerous precedent allowing the state to retain genetic and personal data of citizens indefinitely, without meaningful avenues for redress or timely removal from the Register.

Critics argue it institutionalizes ongoing human rights violations contrary to EU law, jeopardizing Romania’s international reputation.

THE END of everyone's freedom

Since the police can now take DNA, even if someone did something 30 + years ago , but has a clean record since then , this is becoming the first step to the following scenario :

For example , if you been in a illegal scenario in 1989 , but since then you have completely rehabilitate and even started a kindergarten or even have great social projects ongoing that sustain your development.. ......

YOU ARE STILL A CRIMINAL in their eyes ( practically they don't care if you rehabilitated and they don't care if you are a model citizen ) and they will take YOUR DNA , fingerprints, photos, and you need to present at a local police department every 3 months and sign a paper + declare what you do, where you work , where you go, and if you leave the local residence more than 3 days, you need to tell them, otherwise , you can go to prison from 3 months to 2 years .

THE PERFECT POLICE STATE and the police is lying and pointing fingers at the EU , declaring that ,, they made the law,, , which is a perfect lie to save their asses, for the moment .

We have witnesses that have been told so, by the police ! A LEGAL DISPUTE WILL TAKE PLACE.
