Despite the fact that it’s none of anyone’s business how much money people save, some people want to dig into the details and reveal them to the public for them to see and poking fun at. MSCHF is one of them. A group of artists designed a machine that advertises, displays, and ranks the amount of money withdrawn from a bank account. It’s the game of riches, and everyone is in it for the win.
In testing the ATM machine, those who have shown courage implicitly consent to MSCHF’s gimmick, since their balances are displayed on a giant screen that is aptly titled the ‘leaderboard.’ The person who has the highest amount of money in the bank wins the game, but might also be a target as they roam around Miami Art Week 2022.
As brave attendees take the leap into the machine during MSCHF’s recent stunt for Art Basel Miami Beach, tension rises in the air. The ATM machine also takes a picture of the user and displays it along with their bank balance in the leaderboard. Until someone richer overtakes the first person in ranking during Miami Art Week, the person ranked first will remain at the top.
The winner of MSCHF’s Instagram contest on December 3rd was a guy wearing a pink shirt with 2.9 million USD in his bank account. A powerful American DJ named Diplo beat him with more than 3 million USD, which he posted to his Instagram feed. As Miami Art Week winds down, the game continues to roll. The highly visible bank balance digits allow visitors to make sense of whatever they want from the situation using their gaze.
